8th Grade Bands in Savanna Oaks have the most performance opportunities of all! They polish their skills and techniques while playing at least 6 concerts a year, including Cocoa Concerts for the school in December, a concert with the High School Bands in April, and a spotlight in the 8th grade Promotion ceremony. They also go to band festivals - where they get the opportunity to play for other bands their age, work with lots of different conductors, and have lots of fun. This years 2014 - 2015 8th grade band is planning an overnight trip to the Kalahari in April for the best 8th grade band clinic EVER! You'll hear more about in soon!
Concert update: The first 8th grade ( plus 7th grade and 7th and 8th grade orchestra) concert is Monday October 19th.
Practice!
Because I know practicing at home isn't always easy - there are opportunities to practice at school as well.
- Students may come to school early to practice down in the music wing any time between 7:30 and 8:15 ANY or EVERY day except late start
Mondays
- Students may stay after school on any day but Friday
- Of COURSE, students may always take instruments home to practice, but they need to be back the next school day!
8th grade students are EXPECTED to play outside of class 2 - 4 times a week from 20 - 30 minutes each time. I will be calling or emailing you on a regular basis to talk with you about what I see as your child's practice habits!
